Beginning Jazz with a focus on Classical Jazz
Students explore the African roots of American Jazz Dance, discover syncopation, and meet influential greats such as Gus Giordano.
Ripple 1 performers establish an emotive performance presence and demonstrate Classical Jazz as codified by Jack Cole & Matt Mattox. Performances also include elements of the acclaimed Luigi Technique.
Ripple Jazz students enjoy training in various jazz-based styles during their journey through the Ripple Program. Dancers progress smoothly through a detailed curriculum that includes technique, vocabulary, and dance history.
Ripple 1 students are encouraged to take at least two styles of dance in their first season to determine what they really love. Now is the time to discover which dance style(s) suit the dancer’s preferences, and then stick with it. We do not recommend starting over as a beginner in a new style each season.
