Intermediate/Advanced Jazz with a focus on Contemporary, African-Caribbean & Modern
Ripple 4 Jazz students demonstrate a fluency of movement that adds a sparkle of joy to their performance.
Beginning technique has become second nature, and students are qualified to begin training at an intermediate/advanced level. In addition, students hone their ability to portray believable characters.
Ripple 4 Jazz students perform impressive genres, including Modern, African-Caribbean, & Contemporary. They take inspiration from the mothers and fathers of these iconic styles, including Alvin Ailey, Lester Horton, Katherine Dunham, and others.
Ripple Jazz students enjoy training in various jazz-based styles during their journey through the Ripple Program. Dancers progress smoothly through a detailed curriculum that includes technique, vocabulary, and dance history.
Age Range & Class Info
- Students must be at least 11 years old as of October 1 and have completed Ripple 3 Jazz or the equivalent
- Max Class Size: 12
- Meets once a week for 75 minutes
- Seasons run 40 weeks from mid-August to early June
- Students enrolled by the deadline for the 40-week season perform in December and January (costumes are INCLUDED :).
- Most students spend two years in Ripple 4. They are Ripple 4 Juniors their first year and Ripple 4 Seniors their second year.
- Ripple 4 students qualify to join the Pure Performance Company

What’s Next?
After mastering the content in Ripple 4 Jazz, students progress to Ripple 5 Jazz, where they typically train for one year as advanced students.
In Ripple 5 Jazz, students enjoy performing Theatrical and Lyrical jazz.
As Jazz students progress through the thoughtfully designed five-level Ripple Program and beyond, they will learn and perform a range of styles, including lyrical, contemporary, modern, and other popular forms of jazz.
